Awards
EDUCATION
This award recognizes educators who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the area of gospel or sacred music.
PERSEVERANCE
This award is dedicated to church musicians, directors, praise and worship leaders, and vocalists, in appreciation for their devoted service to a congregation or group. Working in tense situations, dealing primarily with volunteers and often being volunteers themselves, church music leaders are a special breed of people who routinely place the needs of others and a congregation above their own for the simply sake of sharing the joy and healing power of music.
CALLIER SPIRIT
Named in remembrance of Mattie Ann Callier Spears (1934-1995), this award is presented to the person who reflects Ms. Spears’ dedication to the furtherance of gospel music. Callier’s contributions include teaching, performing, and journalism. She was a tireless promoter and educator of Gospel music and Gospel music history. Recipients of this award are often historians, reporters, and writers who have significantly contributed to the genre of Gospel and Sacred music, rather than musicians.
GLOBE TROTTER
This award, our most prestigious, is given to an artist with 20 years or more service in the field of gospel music including anything from education and performance, to producing or paving the way for other artists.
